Setting up a VPN in Windows Vista is very easy and can open up a whole range of possibilities to your online life. Follow our brief guide so that you can quickly establish your own VPN and share files or play games online!
Step 1 - Open up Network and Sharing Center > Manage Network Connections. Once there, Press the ALT button in your keyboard to reveal the Menu. Now Click on New Incoming Connection.

Step 2 - Select the users that you would like to allow to connect to your computer via the VPN. You can also add a new user by clicking on “Add someone”.

Step 3 - It is most likely that your VPN partner would be connecting to your computer via the Internet. So select the option and click Next

Step 4 - Select the services that you want your partner or VPN users to have. If you do not want to enable sharing local resource ( such as files, printer, etc ) then you can turn off that option. If you network supports IPv6 connectivity (very less likely), then you can enable it.

Step 5 - You will get another screen confirming that your VPN is ready to be used. You can now ask your friend/partner to connect to your computer using your IP Address and the Username and Password you specified in Step 2.
Known Issues - Windows Vista and other Non-Server version of Windows only allows ONE incoming VPN connections. It is a limitation and Cannot be bypassed or removed. If you want to allow more users to connect, you can either get a Windows based server or a Router based VPN device.
